"My name is Nick Smith. My brother Matthew and I are the owners/operators of Smith Brothers Lawn & Landscape. Our business is located in Chatsworth, GA.
I was left paralyzed after a farming accident in 2004. I chose to not let my accident define what I'm capable of. My brother and I decided to pursue the dream of having our lawn company 5 years ago. We do everything from mowing, edging, trimming, mulch and landscaping, anything needed around the fall time like leaf clean ups and gutter cleanings. We always make customer satisfaction #1 on our list. We take pride in all that we do and treat every lawn just like our very own.
I've always enjoyed the outdoors and making my property look good. So I figured if I could make money doing what I love I should start a lawn business and still succeed at it after my accident. There is so much competition in my community as far as the lawn business goes. One of the challenges I was faced with a couple years ago was to broaden my horizons going to other cities and towns to get my lawn company recognized. My family and friends really inspire me to push forward and not give up. I look up to the guys that have started from nothing and now have a big name for themselves as well. I'm reminded daily because of people like my family and friends hard work pays off.
My goal is to build my brand so high that when people are in need of lawn maintenance, we come to mind. I would like to have so many accounts I would have to have a couple crews working every day. Basically everyone is on social media so it allows us to have platforms for people to see our work right at their finger tips. They can also see many reviews we have so they can almost know what they are going to get and what to expect.
When I first got my hands on a SureCan, I was very surprised how sturdy they were. Any gas can I have used before, I have had issues with shrinking, nozzles breaking, and they just didn't last long at all. I love that they pour from the bottom so it's good until the last drop. It's very convenient for me and my workers to use the SureCan. It's nice to know I am using a product that is worth the money and I'm not having to replace gas cans every year.
I have always been told anything worth doing is worth doing right. Don't ever get discouraged because sometimes it can take a little while to move up in the lawn business with all the competition. Always be honest in your business because your work is a reflection of who you are."
